Payne Lake Recreation AreaPayne Lake Recreation Area The amenities at Payne Lake make a perfect base of operations for exploring the lower Cahaba. Primitive and RV camping, swimming, biking and hiking opportunities are tucked conveniently away in the heart of the Talladega National Forest.

There are, of course, many other recreational opportunities along the corridor, including canoeing the Cahaba River, exploring the ruins of Old Cahawba, visiting the Talladega National Forest, Oakmulgee Division or climbing the birding tower at Perry Lakes Park and Barton's Beach, just to name a few.
